What is Zouk?
Brazilian Zouk (also known a Zouk Lambada) is a sensual partner dance style that is fast growing into one of the most popular street latin dance styles today.
Originating in Brazil in the ‘90s, the dance style was born through the movements of original lambada dance style being merged with the zouk rhythms of music origination from the Caribbean islands. What has resulted from this union is a social dance style that looks fantastic to watch, but is even better to dance!
Today Brazilian Zouk is danced to a vast array of urban rhythms and world beats – from your favourite RnB and Top40 tracks, to more traditional Caribbean beats, and as diverse as middle-eastern rhythms. With such a diverse array of music, this dance style easily enables dancers to get up and dance anywhere around the globe!
The Zouk movement is growing globally and in Adelaide we are blessed with a thriving Zouk scene. Since 2010 we have be teaching and promoting Brazilian Zouk, and we can’t wait to share our love of this dance with you.
